We would like to draw your attention to our risk management initiative, with the purpose to explore your interest to support this financially and/or 'in kind'. Dependant on the position and nature of your organization, we see the following rational for doing so;
• The model supports in setting up an optimal cost effective management, bringing operational risks under control, while showing which preventive measures and corrections offer best control in which part of your supply chain.
• It will help you in your communication with certifiers - expressing the logic of your management and explaining in a systematic way what measures are in place for standard compliance.
• The model supports initiatives for keeping smallholder producers in the market, by giving them a tool for optimization of smallholder ICS.
• Without proper anticipation, each certification body can individually determine the indicators, nature and frequency of the controls (art. 27) creating 1) chaos amongst users, 2) unfair competition between certification agencies and 3) jeopardize the quality of the inspections.
• Counter the expected cost inefficiency of the system as a whole
• Ensure that the long term interests of the producers are well respected
• Risk analyses are increasingly used in certifications and standards. This model can easily be applied to other certification schemes.
