Proper risk assessment (with parameters to enter into the Chain Risk Model) is teamwork, and needs to be carried out in a multi-disciplinary team of experienced chain partners. Therefore, representatives of the organic trade and industry , international certification bodies , research institutes , Non Governmental Organisations and consultants have taken the initiative to develop a risk assessment tool that is uniform and based on a sound scientific foundation.

Trade and Industry partners will bring in their product and chain expertise. Certification bodies will contribute knowledge and experience with regard to inspection and certification activities, accreditation requirements, risk management, Research institutes and NGOs will provide inputs for certain risks to occur, measures that can be taken to avoid contamination, and to build the model.

The Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation co-funds the scientific preparation needed to build the risk assessment model. They may also contribute their experiences, and lobby at EU level for acceptance and harmonisation.
